We have a small staff team at the Children's Bereavement Centre but are able to continue to meet demand for the service thanks to our dedicated and skilled volunteer team. We have a variety of roles including Volunteer Administrators, Volunteer Fundraising Assistants, Community Volunteers and both 1:1 and Group Bereavement Volunteers. Our wonderful volunteers are even central to the delivery of our annual bereavement residential in the Peak District. We are so grateful to each and every one of them for tirelessly giving their time and enthusiasm so that we can support as many bereaved families as possible.
Some of our 1:1 Bereavement Volunteers are training to be counsellors and are completing their 100 hours placement with us. We aim to provide them and all of our volunteers with a range of training opportunities along with mentoring and support to ensure they have the best volunteering experience possible.
“It’s so worthwhile just knowing you can help out in a very small way”
“Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and to give something back”
“The training offered before you start is very comprehensive and gives you the confidence you need to start volunteering”
If you are interested volunteering, please visit our opportunities page to see which roles we are currently recruiting for. If you are interested in the 1:1 Bereavement Volunteer role, please note that we have two recruitment rounds per year; one in the spring and the other in the autumn. If you have any questions about volunteering, please don't hesitate to contact Anna Heathcote on [email protected] or on 01636 551739.
Our team of dedicated professionals and volunteers play such an important role within the charity and we currently have a couple of exciting opportunities.
We are looking for a Community Fundraiser to join our team, which is a paid for post and a volunteer handy person
The Volunteer Administrators can be the first person to welcome you to the Centre or may support with vital fundraising tasks. They are critical to bolstering our capacity to help as many families as possible.
The 1:1 Bereavement Volunteers directly support bereaved children and their families, making a real difference to the lives of those that need us.
As a charity we are really lucky to have the support of our Patron and Ambassadors, they are all passionate about making a difference to local children.
The ideal way to help us if you would like to get involved on an ad-hoc basis and great fun as you can get involved in events and meet lots of new people.
We have a number of trustees who donate their time and skills to help set the strategic direction of the charity.
