Lincoln C2C2C - Thursday 27th June 2024

C2C2C is a charity cycle ride across Lincolnshire. In the first year the ride was from Lincoln Castle to the coast and back to the castle but as numbers grew it became more difficult to ride safely into Lincoln.

There are 2 routes - 100 miles with 3,500' of gentle climbing or 200km, which includes The Appendix (the pointless bit in the middle), and has 5,000' of climbing. Most people ride in teams and the size of your team is only limited by how many people you know/will ride with you! However, we do recommend riding in groups of less than 8.
Some people ride all of it, some ride in relay. Mountain bikes, the latest carbon fibre aero models, tandems, hire bikes, recumbents or a Brompton- it doesn't matter what you ride, so long as you power it yourself. We have had many riders complete 100 miles for the first time on C2C2C so as long as you train (a bit) before the ride you will get back for a beer and BBQ. The more you train the better you will feel at the end of the ride.

Places are £41.50 registration which will be donated to the charity after the event.

On Sunday 12th May, Newark Castle Sportive returned for 2024...

Eight cyclists signed up to be charity riders in  the Newark Castle Sportive HQ, to help raise vital funds for the Children's Bereavement Centre.

Collectively, the riders raised an amazing £2311 for taking on the 60 mile or 100 mile route. Thank you to Vince, Paul, Simon, Paul, Simon, Claudette, John, Andrew, Rob for being our charity cyclists, our fundraising team loved cheering you on. You can view photos from the day here.

This brilliant sportive event is suitable able for everyone, regardless of cycling background and type of cycle.

There are 3 routes to suit all abilities:

  • For new riders: enjoy a day out on whatever bike you have in the safety of an environment, with a fully signed 34 mile route, mechanics should you have a problem, medics and a half way feed stop, no time limit and a phone number to call should you have a problem.
  • For the more experienced and progressing riders: medium (62 miles) and long (104 miles) routes, all fully signed, easy to follow routes with feed stops along the way. We do recommend that you have a decent level of experience to tackle the 100 mile route as it isn’t something to be undertaken lightly although still achievable in this early season event.

Enjoy the heritage of Newark by starting and finishing the ride in Newark Castle itself, by working alongside the team at Newark and Sherwood Council we bring a community event into the town for all to enjoy with a great atmosphere.

After finishing the event, collect your medal and chill out for a while by the riverside, grab a beer, pizza and just soak of the atmosphere.

Thank you to Sportive HQ for inviting us to be part of this event.
