Julia started working with the founder of the charity in 2007 in her professional role as a nurse at a local school.  They worked together supporting many students age 7-18 years of age with various bereavement needs.  The charity rapidly grew and demand for this vital work was high.  There was a need for more support and vision at senior management committee level so Julia decided to volunteer as a Trustee and bring her skills to a cause she is passionate about.  Julia trained as a nurse in 1984 at St James University Hospital, Leeds and worked in A&E, then specialised in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery before being Senior Sister at the unit at Killingbeck Hospital.  She then further trained in counselling, specialising in teenage bereavement issues and worked with Cruse Bereavement in Leeds for many years on their steering committee and helped to set up the Leeds branch of Cruse.
