I started volunteering for the Children’s Bereavement Centre after seeing first-hand the positive impact that they make on both children and their families following a bereavement.

We are ex-service users of the centre. My daughter received play therapy sessions, I had counselling sessions and we attended family workshops and we found the support that we received from everyone in the centre to be invaluable.

Following our experience, we started to fund raise for the charity so that even more families can access the help that we received.

We completed a sponsored walk last summer and held a coffee morning earlier this year as well as helping at various bag packing events in Newark.

I really enjoy volunteering for The Children’s Bereavement Centre in this way and find that I can fit it around my other commitments easily.

It gives me a chance to tell people how lucky we are to have this charity locally as well as show our gratitude for the help we received.
