Our Daisy Remembrance Exhibit - The Meadow of Memories, saw hundreds of ornamental daisies adorn the grounds of Newark Castle over June 25th and 26th.

It was a special and unique event enabling families to sit for a moment of quiet reflection, and remembrance and we met and spoke to so many lovely people.

The exhibit was open to the public both days, 10am-4pm and families enjoyed picnics, and hot drinks and cakes from local business Beyond Coffee. Children took part in craft activities including tile painting which some designed in memory of a loved one.

Visitors wrote messages of remembrance and tied different coloured ribbons to the tree of memories. The tree stem and display were created by local artist and sculpture Nigel Wood who works with driftwood. Nigel had created the tree at his artist residency at Grain No1 Antiques on Castle gate.

There was a lovely atmosphere on Saturday afternoon, as local musician Adam Schofield played his guitar under the bandstand. Adam kindly gave up his time to play for the charity and is part of the band, Jukebox, a live music duo. On Sunday afternoon, people who donated collected their daisy to take home and display in the own home or garden.

The Meadow of Memories is a very special annual event and we were overwhelmed with the number of people we met and felt privileged that people visited and shared their stories with us. To everyone that supported this campaign a heartfelt thank you.

If you missed the exhibit but would still like to support the campaign, it's not too late. “We wanted to support this campaign as the Charity helped my granddaughter and our family so much, supporting and guiding us all through the most difficult of times. We can never thank them enough for what they have done to support our entire family.

The daisy is a lovely way to remember Claire and also help raise vital funds for such an amazing charity.”
