NEWARK DUCK RACE ON SUNDAY 29 OCTOBER HAS BEEN POSTPONED

Due to the recent heavy rain and local flooding, we have taken the very difficult decision to POSTPONE the Newark Duck Race this Sunday, October 29^th.

We are really sorry for the disappointment this will cause, we were looking forward to it too, but the safety of everyone involved remains out top priority. Even if the water levels drop during the course of this week the river will be very fast, deep, and therefore dangerous, presenting a risk to life for those on the water. We also don’t want to encourage children and families near such high levels of water and there is further rain forecast later this week.

We hope you can appreciate we didn’t want to take this course of action but hope you can understand our decision, it hasn’t been taken lightly. The duck race will be rescheduled, and we will contact everyone that has sponsored a duck to inform them of the new date as soon as it’s confirmed. We will also keep you up to date on our social media channels. 

Scarefest, the Halloween event which is taking place in the Castle Grounds from 10am-4pm on Sunday October 29^th is still definitely going ahead as it’s not affected by the river levels. And the good news is if you haven’t managed to sponsor a duck yet, you’ve now still got time by clicking on the link below.
