Our referral process:
We accept referrals for children aged between 3-18 years and their parents/carers affected by terminal illness or death. We accept referral forms from professionals as well as self-referrals.
Due to our recent funding constraints combined with a high number of referrals for support for children and families affected by bereavement or pre-bereavement, we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend support for those affected by loss due to divorce or parental separation.
This has been a difficult decision but it will enable us to continue to offer free timely early intervention for those affected by bereavement or pre-bereavement. We will regularly monitor the situation and once we are able to increase funding to replace our recent reduction in statutory funding and increase our capacity to provide more services, we will revisit this decision.
Once a referral has been received we aim to telephone you within 48 working hours. We will then arrange an assessment appointment with the adult parent/carer of the child/children being referred which will take place at our Newark center, usually within 2 weeks. The assessment will last approximately 1.5 hours and is an opportunity for us to assess your family’s individual needs and for you to find out about the service and types of support we can offer. You will then be offered the most appropriate service as close to home as possible.
